Value Profile
We understand that no set of "core metrics" is applicable to all endeavors. We believe non-financial performance should be measured first and foremost against a project or organization itself, not against other efforts with varying goals in different contexts. A value profile measures a project or organization in each of the 'value types' using data of different 'information types.' The result is a complete picture of social and environmental impacts.
Value Types
We recognize three 'Value Types,' each of equal importance, that together provide a complete profile of any given project.
- Economic
- Social
- Environmental
Information Types
We have defined four 'Information Types,' to generate the data that supports each of the value types, and ultimately, the complete value profile.
- Monetizable: traditional financial value and non-financial economic equivalents
- Quantitative: size, magnitude or degree
- Qualitative: kind, type, or direction
- Narrative: storytelling
SVT is expanding the thinking of SROI analysis. We are developing a means of translating the impacts of social and environmental work into a common language that becomes more and more useful as more people use it. The foundation is a methodology that is rigorous, testable and replicable.
