One of our visualization projects was prompted by the ’08/09’s economic recession, and a question posed by documentary producer and Full Circle Fund member Marc Smolowitz, who asked how the recession was affecting the nonprofit community. SVT Group partnered with Cisco to create this tutorial based on SVT’s methodology, which has been used by domestic and international nonprofits, funders, corporations and investors, to clarify goals, assess results and identify opportunities to increase both impact and financial performance. With numerous active projects in six areas (restoration, biodiversity, sanitation, education, microenterprise and advocacy), and a $14 million UNDP Global Environment Facility grant, Grupo Ecologico Sierra Gorda needed a way to organize the overwhelming amount of data it collected and to use that data to optimize its impact and its future fundraising capabilities. Nemours Health & Prevention Services (NHPS) is a non-profit organization born of a major children’s healthcare provider based in Newark, Delaware. NHPS works with families and community partners to help children grow up healthfully and in particular, to avoid childhood obesity. NHPS wanted to be able to answer what the best use of each next dollar was. NHPS came to SVT to design and build an “SROI Toolkit” to maximize positive impact per dollar across its programs and partnerships.
